On 1 March, more than 100 Egyptian migrants joined a rally in Vienna (Austria) to protest against the ongoing brutal repression of the Egyptian people by the regime of ‘Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. The rally was addressed by the leader of the Egyptian community in Vienna, Ibrahim Ali, as well as by two young Egyptian women.
The organizers also invited the Austrian section of the RCIT to address the rally. Johannes Wiener, one of the section’s spokespersons, expressed his solidarity with the Egyptian people’s resistance to the al-Sisi regime. He also condemned the recent attacks by the Egyptian air force against Islamists in Libya.
In his speech Michael Pröbsting, International Secretary of the RCIT, condemned the repression of the Egyptian regime against the Palestinians in Gaza. He also called for workers’ solidarity with Muslim migrants against the racism of the Austrian state.
The RCIT and its Austrian section are committed to carrying on their solidarity work with the resistance in Egypt as well against the regime’s aggression in aid of imperialism.
