Ucrania, dos años de guerra y la postura de trotskistas rusos de la CCRI

Preface: On the second anniversary of the beginning of the Ukraine War, we published the English-language translation of an article by comrade Alexey Sedov from the Socialist Tendency, the RCIT’s section in Russia. We are particularly proud that our Russian comrades, operating “in the heart of the beast”, have taken a consistent anti-imperialist approach against Putin’s war of aggression since its beginning.

 

It is the political and moral duty of socialists all over the world to defend the Ukraine against the Putin’s invasion. However, it demands particular courage and steadfastness from revolutionary communists to take such a position and to defend it publicly in the centre of “Ruskij Mir”, i.e. in imperialist Russia. Bolsheviks are tested in decisive situations. Wars, counterrevolutionary blows and revolutionary upheavals are the most important of such tests. Our comrades have passed this test with honours and the RCIT is proud to have them in its ranks!

 

The Revolutionary Communist International Tendency (RCIT) has recognised the dual character of this conflict from the very beginning. It is a reactionary war of aggression by Russia and, therefore, a just war of national defence by the Ukraine. At the same time, it is also linked with the accelerating rivalry between the imperialist powers. Hence, a consistent internationalist and anti-imperialist position requires a dual tactic. Socialists are obliged to defend the Ukraine – a semi-colonial capitalist country – against Russian imperialism. At the same time, they must lend no support whatsoever for the chauvinist and militarist policy of any Great Power against their rivals. Hence, it is impermissible to support economic sanctions or similar Great Power measures.

 

Furthermore, we oppose the subordination of the Ukraine to Western imperialism and fight for the replacement of the Zelensky regime by a workers government. The RCIT has summarised such an approach in the slogan: For a Popular War to defend the Ukraine against Putin’s invasion! No subordination of Ukraine to NATO and EU! Against Russian and against NATO imperialism!

 

On this programmatic basis, we have recently established fraternal relations with Spalakh – a group of young activists in the Ukraine. (See https://www.thecommunists.net/rcit/fraternal-relations-between-spalakh-ukraine-and-rcit/)

 

The RCIT has combined such a position with practical solidarity work. In the first months after the beginning of the war, we (co-)organised three international convoys brining humanitarian aid to the Ukraine. We also participated with delegates at a conference initiated by the International Labour Network for Solidarity and Struggles on May Day 2022 in Lviv. Two years ago, Putin's imperialist machine invaded Ukraine, bringing death, destruction, colonization and occupation.

 

People have been dying for two years – young Ukrainian soldiers, men, women, children. People are losing property and shelter, the country is experiencing a humanitarian, economic and demographic crisis.

 

In two years, Russia has experienced an unprecedented increase in censorship, the mobilization of hundreds of thousands of men to the front, the exodus of hundreds of thousands of citizens abroad, attacks on their cities, a military mutiny, as well as the murders and imprisonments of key figures of the Russian opposition.

 

Two years of deaths, personal tragedies, broken contacts, loss of meaning and disappointment.

 

Over these two years, the Russian ruling elite was able to rally its forces around President Putin ahead of the upcoming elections, while the Ukrainian ruling elite, on the contrary, has split: President Zelensky, who traditionally relies on the Ukrainian national bureaucracy, dismissed Commander-in-Chief Zaluzhny – whose staff are mainly relied on the Western political and military elite, replacing him with General Syrsky, known for his “meat” assaults and greater loyalty to the political leadership.

 

All this time, the ruling class is playing a dirty game behind the scenes and behind the backs of the working masses.

 

 

 

The bankruptcy of social-imperialism and abstentionism

 

 

 

And for two years, opportunists and sectarians have been attacking revolutionary Marxists, sputtering at Lenin’s theory of imperialism and practicing intellectual balancing act with the aim of promoting absenteeism or, worse, the direct ideology of the “Russian world”. Everything is used: from denying the imperialist nature of Russia to attracting world-system theory from authors of varying degrees of adequacy. The standard arguments, defeated by the Bolsheviks more than a hundred years ago, are again in use. Among them are theses about the impossibility of a national liberation war under imperialism, the impossibility of communists supporting the bourgeois leadership of oppressed countries in their struggle for liberation, conspiracy theories about a proxy war between the geopolitical West and East, and so on and so forth.

 

All this is often supported by petty-bourgeois pacifist vulgarities or, conversely, by ordinary cannibalism.

 

The position of the “Socialist Tendency”, as a section of the RCIT in Russia, has not changed and has only been confirmed over the past two years. In February 2022, we gave an interview to Ukrainian social revolutionaries, in which we defined the nature of the war as dual: the primary element was and is the war of national defence of Ukraine against Russian colonizing imperialism, while the secondary element is the economic and political confrontation between the imperialist camps.

 

What is the difference between a Marxist and an opportunist-compromiser and a sectarian? The opportunist always supports the bourgeois government in its legitimate struggle for defence, without properly criticizing the ruling class, suffering from tailism and conciliation. The sectarian ignores such a legitimate struggle, referring to the incorrect (bourgeois/petty-bourgeois/nationalist/Islamist) leadership of the masses.

 

A Marxist, on the other hand, supports the people's struggle against the occupiers and oppressors, without identifying with the reactionary leadership, expanding his or her influence on the masses in order to lead such a legitimate struggle, replacing the wrong leadership.

 

We Marxists still remain friends of the working masses and oppressed peoples. We, both these last two years and before, believe that the correct theory will make its way through the thorns to the stars, no matter what stands in its way.

 

We reaffirm our support for the resistance of oppressed nations and the working class of the world.

 

Against all imperialists! Down with Russia, China, USA and EU!

 

Down with the colonialists! Glory to Ukraine!

 

Forward, working class! Socialism or death!

Два года назад путинская империалистическая машина вторглась на территорию Украины, неся смерть, разрушение, колонизацию и оккупацию.

 

Два года гибнут люди – молодые украинские солдаты, мужчины, женщины, дети. Люди лишаются имущества и крова, страна переживает гуманитарный, экономический, демографический кризис.

 

За два года Россия пережила невиданное доселе увеличение цензуры, мобилизацию сотен тысяч граждан на фронт, исход сотен тысяч граждан за рубеж, атаку на свои города, военный мятеж, а так же убийства и посадки ключевых фигур российской оппозиции.

 

Два года смертей, раскрытия карт, личных трагедией, разрыва контактов, потери смыслов и разочарования.

 

За эти два года правящая элита России смогла сплотить свои силы вокруг президента Путина перед предстоящими выборами, в то время, как правящая элита Украины наоборот раскололась: президент Зеленский, который традиционно опирается на украинскую национальную бюрократию, отправил в отставку главкома Залужного – сотрудники которого главным образом опирались на западную политическую и военную элиту, заменив его на генерала Сырского, известного своими "мясными" штурмами и большей лояльностью политическому руководству.

 

Всё это время правящий класс ведёт подковерную грязную игру за спинами трудящихся масс.

 

И два года оппортунисты и сектанты нападают на революционных марксистов, брызжут слюной на ленинскую теорию империализма и упражняются в интеллектуальной эквилибристике с целью продвижения абсентеизма или хуже того – прямой идеологии "русского мира". В ход идёт всё: от отрицания империалистической природы России до притягивания теории мир-системы от авторов разной степени адекватности. Стандартные аргументы, разбитые большевиками более ста лет назад, снова идут в ход. Среди них тезисы о невозможности национально-освободительной войны при империализме, о невозможности для коммунистов поддерживать буржуазное руководство угнетённых стран в их борьбе за освобождение, конспирологические бредни о прокси-войне геополитических Запада и Востока и прочее, прочее.

 

Всё это зачастую подкрепляется мещанско-пацифистскими пошлостями или наоборот – обыкновенным людоедством.

 

Позиция "Социалистической Тенденции", как секции РКИТ в России, не изменилась и только подтвердилась за последние два года. В феврале 2022 мы дали интервью украинским социал-революционерам, в котором определили характер войны,как двойственный: первичным элементом выступала и выступает война национальной обороны Украины против Российского колинизаторского империализма, в то время, как вторичным элементом является экономическое и политическое противостояние лагерей империалистов.

 

Чем отличается марксист от оппортуниста-соглашателя и сектанта? Оппортунист всегда поддерживает буржуазное правительство в его законной борьбе за оборону, должным образом не критикуя правящий класс, страдая хвостизмом и соглашательством. Сектант игнорирует такую законную борьбу, ссылаясь на неправильное (буржуазное/мелкобуржуазное/националистическое/исламистское) руководство народными массами.

 

Марксист же поддерживает народную борьбу против оккупантов и угнетателей, при этом не солидаризируясь с реакционным руководством, расширяя своё влияние на народные массы с целью возглавить такую законную борьбу, сменив неправильное руководство.

 

Мы, марксисты, по прежнему остаёмся друзьями трудовых масс и угнетённых народов. Мы, как эти последние два года, так и ранее – верим, что правильная теория проложит себе путь через тернии к звёздам независимо от того, что стоит у неё на пути.

 

Мы подтверждаем свою поддержку сопротивления угнетённых наций и рабочего класса всего мира.

 

Против всех империалистов! Долой Россию, Китай, США и ЕС!

 

Долой колонизаторов! Слава Украине!

 

Вперёд, рабочий класс! Социализм или смерть!

Prefacio: En el segundo aniversario del comienzo de la guerra de Ucrania publicamos la traducción al español de un artículo del camarada Alexey Sedov, de la Corriente Socialista, la sección rusa de la Corriente Comunista Revolucionaria Internacional. Estamos particularmente orgullosos de que nuestros camaradas rusos, que operan “en el corazón de la bestia”, hayan adoptado un enfoque antiimperialista consistente contra la guerra de agresión de Putin desde su comienzo.

 

Es deber político y moral de los socialistas de todo el mundo defender a Ucrania contra la invasión de Putin. Sin embargo, se requiere especial coraje y firmeza por parte de los comunistas revolucionarios para adoptar tal posición y defenderla públicamente en el centro de “Ruskij Mir”, es decir, en la Rusia imperialista. Los bolcheviques se ponen a prueba en situaciones decisivas, las guerras, los golpes contrarrevolucionarios y los levantamientos revolucionarios son las más importantes de esas pruebas. ¡Nuestros compañeros han superado esta prueba con honores y, desde la CCRI, estamos orgullosos de tenerlos en nuestras filas!

 

Como Corriente Comunista Revolucionaria, hemos reconocido el carácter dual de este conflicto desde el principio, caracterizando que es una guerra reaccionaria de agresión por parte de Rusia y, por lo tanto, una guerra justa de defensa nacional por parte de Ucrania. Al mismo tiempo, esta contienda también está vinculada a la creciente rivalidad entre las potencias imperialistas, razón por la cual, se debe plantear una posición internacionalista y antiimperialista consistente mediante la aplicación de una táctica dual. Estamos obligados a defender Ucrania –un país capitalista semicolonial– contra el imperialismo ruso, pero, y al mismo tiempo, sin prestar ninguna clase de apoyo a la política chauvinista y militarista de cualquier Gran Potencia contra sus rivales. Por lo tanto, es inadmisible apoyar sanciones económicas o medidas similares de las Grandes Potencias.

 

Además, nos oponemos a la subordinación de Ucrania al imperialismo occidental y luchamos por la sustitución del régimen de Zelensky por un gobierno obrero. Desde la CCRI hemos resumido este enfoque en la consigna: ¡Por una guerra popular para defender Ucrania contra la invasión de Putin! ¡No a la subordinación de Ucrania a la OTAN y la UE! ¡Contra Rusia y contra el imperialismo de la OTAN! Hace dos años, la maquinaria imperialista de Putin invadió Ucrania, provocando muerte, destrucción, colonización y ocupación. Desde hace dos años muere gente: jóvenes soldados ucranianos, hombres, mujeres y niños. El pueblo está perdiendo propiedades y alojamiento, el país está experimentando una crisis humanitaria, económica y demográfica.

 

En dos años, Rusia ha experimentado un aumento sin precedentes de la censura, la movilización de cientos de miles de hombres al frente, el éxodo de cientos de miles de ciudadanos al extranjero, ataques a sus ciudades, un motín militar, así como los asesinatos y encarcelamientos de figuras clave de la oposición rusa.

 

Dos años de muertes, tragedias personales, contactos rotos, pérdida de sentido y desilusión

 

Durante estos dos años, la élite gobernante rusa pudo reunir sus fuerzas en torno al presidente Putin antes de las próximas elecciones, mientras que la élite gobernante ucraniana, por el contrario, se ha dividido: el presidente Zelensky, que tradicionalmente depende de la burocracia nacional ucraniana, destituyó al Comandante en jefe Zaluzhny, cuyo personal depende principalmente de la elite política y militar occidental, reemplazándolo por el general Syrsky, conocido por sus ataques salvajes y su mayor lealtad al liderazgo político.

 

Todo este tiempo, la clase dominante vino jugando un juego sucio detrás de escena y a espaldas de las masas trabajadoras.

 

La quiebra del socialimperialismo y el abstencionismo

 

Durante estos dos años, oportunistas y sectarios han estado atacando a los marxistas revolucionarios, mal utilizando la teoría del imperialismo de Lenin y practicando actos de equilibrio intelectual con el objetivo de promover el abstencionismo o, peor aún, la ideología del chovinismo ruso. Se utiliza de todo: desde negar la naturaleza imperialista de Rusia hasta atraer la teoría del sistema mundial de autores de diversos grados de adecuación.

 

Los argumentos habituales, derrotados por los bolcheviques hace más de cien años, están nuevamente en uso. Entre ellas se encuentran tesis sobre la imposibilidad de una guerra de liberación nacional bajo el imperialismo, la imposibilidad de que los comunistas apoyen al liderazgo burgués de los países oprimidos en su lucha por la liberación, teorías de conspiración sobre una guerra por poderes entre el Occidente y el Este geopolíticos, etc. adelante.

 

Todo esto está a menudo respaldado por vulgaridades pacifistas pequeñoburguesas o, por el contrario, por el canibalismo habitual. Nuestra posición, Corriente Socialista, sección de la CCRI en Rusia, no solo no ha cambiado, sino que se ha confirmado en estos últimos dos años. En febrero de 2022, concedimos una entrevista a socialrevolucionarios ucranianos, en la que definimos la naturaleza de la guerra como dual: el elemento primario fue y es la guerra de defensa nacional de Ucrania contra el imperialismo colonizador ruso, mientras que el elemento secundario es la guerra económica. y confrontación política entre los campos imperialistas.

 

¿Cuál es la diferencia entre un marxista, un oportunista-comprometido y un sectario? El oportunista siempre apoya al gobierno burgués en su legítima lucha por la defensa, sin criticar adecuadamente a la clase dominante, que sufre de seguidismo y conciliación. El sectario ignora esa lucha legítima, refiriéndose a la dirección incorrecta -burguesa, pequeñoburguesa, nacionalista, islamista, etc., de las masas.

 

Un marxista, por otro lado, apoya la lucha del pueblo contra los ocupantes y opresores, sin identificarse con la dirección reaccionaria, ampliando su influencia sobre las masas para liderar esa lucha legítima, reemplazando a la dirección equivocada, por eso, como marxistas estamos al lado de las masas trabajadoras y de los pueblos oprimidos. Nosotros, tanto estos últimos dos años como antes, creemos que la teoría correcta llegará a las estrellas a través de las espinas, sin importar lo que se interponga en su camino.

 

Reafirmamos nuestro apoyo a la resistencia de las naciones oprimidas y de la clase trabajadora del mundo. ¡Contra todos los imperialistas! ¡Abajo Rusia, China, Estados Unidos y la UE! ¡Abajo los colonialistas! ¡Gloria a Ucrania! ¡Adelante clase trabajadora! ¡Socialismo o muerte!
