A report on the most important recent developments

Preface by the Editorial Board: Below we publish another report written by Denis Sokolov, a comrade from Социалистической Тенденцией (Socialist Tendency) in Russia. Socialist Tendency is the section of the RCIT in Russia.

The report of the comrades shows the ongoing “subterranean” process of crisis and popular dissatisfaction which Putin’s reactionary war against the Ukraine has provoked. The war lasts longer and longer without an end in sight and without a prospect of victory.

This process results, on one hand, in deepening divisions within the regime. A large sector of the ruling elite wants to bring the war to an end rather sooner than later – of course at advantageous terms. Another sector – represented by Wagner boss Prigozhin – pushes for an intensification of the war efforts in the hope of achieving total victory. A similar process, by the way, is taking place within governments of Western powers as we have discussed somewhere else. (1)

On the other hand, popular dissatisfaction is increasing albeit it still expresses itself only in small and local protest activities. However, we can expect that at some point – if Russia suffers a major defeat or if divisions within the ruling elite result in a domestic crisis – these protests could explode and could open a revolutionary crisis.

Of particularly interest is the comrades’ report about a growing number of workers protests. Putin’s massive efforts to mobilise the country’s resources in support for the war puts increasing pressure on the working class. Hence, despite the authoritarian conditions imposed by the bonapartist regime, there is an increasing number of workers protests. As our comrades report, supporters of Socialist Tendency are supporting the workers in these protests and advocate a class struggle perspective.

The RCIT and its comrades in Russia continue to fight for a consistent internationalist and anti-imperialist perspective. We call for the defeat of the Russian forces and for the military victory of the Ukrainian people – without lending any political support to the bourgeois and pro-NATO Zelensky government. We call workers to oppose both Russian as well as NATO imperialism. We unconditionally support the right of oppressed nations in Russia for self-determination, including the right to secede and to create their own independent states. Our comrades in Russia advocate a program of socialist revolution, i.e. the perspective for an insurrection of the working class and the oppressed peoples in Russia to bring down the regime and to build a workers republic.

Having lost faith in governors, in army generals and even in Putin, ordinary citizens of the country begin to turn "for help" directly to the owner of the mercenary organization PMC "Wagner" Prigozhin. For example, on May 9, a video was published on the Telegram channel of the pro-Russian propagandist Anatoly Shariy, in which residents of the front-line settlements of the Belgorod region recorded the following appeal: “The war has already reached us, Yevgeny Viktorovich, save us.” We consider Shariy’s own commentary to be quite telling: “It’s a dangerous situation when the president is not seen as a savior, isn’t it?” This may also be due to the fact that during the entire period of the war, none of the generals of the Russian army who were on the front lines received media fame, none of them were admitted to the media as an independent subject, only Prigogine has this “privilege”, while other individuals associated with the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (RF) are deep in the rear.

 

Anti-War protests

 

Targeted repression against anti-war activists is continuing. Those who go to the squares with pickets as well as those who are accused of “attempting a terrorist act” have come under the blow of the repressive machine. For example, 5 people in Balashikha were detained because they wanted to get to the territory of a military unit, blow up equipment and set fire. A veteran of military operations in Afghanistan and Chechnya was sentenced to three years in prison for anti-war posts on social networks. Even those who wear yellow and blue clothes fall under the “heat”. For example, on May 9, a 39-year-old employee of a psycho-neurological boarding school was detained in Moscow, the reason was his blue-and-yellow jacket; on the same day, security forces in Moscow detained a 26-year-old Volgograd citizen for pants in the same color, both face a fine of 50 thousand rubles for "discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation”.

In April and May, the number of lawsuits against "refuseniks", that is, those soldiers who refuse to go to war or carry out relevant orders, reached a record high – this is evidence that discontent among the soldier masses not only does not weaken with the course of the war, but rather increases by every month. In addition, a lot of videos and other evidence are circulating on the Internet, which depict extrajudicial violent “punishments” against “guilty” military men, including “refuseniks”. It can be assumed what kind of fighting spirit the colleagues of the victims of these "punishments" have.

Ramzan Kadyrov, Putin's head of Chechnya, posted on his social media that he paid $18,000 to the Ukrainian secret services for stealing a horse belonging to him in the Czech Republic, which was "arrested" nine years ago as sanctioned "goods". It is noteworthy how easily Kadyrov openly declares, in fact, sponsoring the Ukrainian security forces, for which an ordinary Russian citizen would go to jail for a very long time under the article on "sponsoring terrorism."

Today, May 18, in the morning, security forces executed a search warrant at Mikhail Lobanov, an oppositional politician well-known for his independent anti-war stance. He was accused of being an associate of the fugitive opposition ex-deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Ilya Ponomarev, who is known for taking responsibility for some of the terrorist attacks in Russia. As a pretext, the security forces distributed to the media supposedly screenshots of the correspondence between Mikhail and Ilya, in which they discuss joint actions. Both opposition politicians said the screenshots were fake. After interrogation by the Investigative Committee, Lobanov was released as a witness.

 

Conflict within the ruling elite

 

It should also be noted that the conflict continues between Yevgeny Prigozhin and the official military department. So, Prigozhin once again accused the leadership of the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff of the fact that the PMC "Wagner" does not receive the proper amount of ammunition on the line of clashes in the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, while demonstrating dozens of corpses of dead Russian mercenaries. By threatening to leave the positions occupied by Wagner by May 10, if no changes occur, Prigozhin, in fact, blackmailed the RF Armed Forces with an open military mutiny. As far as we know, at the moment the Ministry of Defence has corrected the situation and the rebellion has not occurred. Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Viktor Sobolev threatened the mobilized soldiers with long terms of imprisonment if they transfer from their units to PMCs.

This is also part of the conflict within the elites. But Prigozhin's most striking statement is his unequivocal allusion that the country is run by "an asshole grandfather" which is an unprecedented attack on Putin himself.

 

Workers protest at Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant

 

Employees of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant staged a spontaneous strike due to non-payment of wages at the enterprise. It is not known how the strike ended, but it is absolutely clear that even at those enterprises that are connected with the military-industrial complex, there are problems with financing and corruption, and ordinary workers are not going to work “for an idea”, for free. Such situations occur frequently, but not all of them are leaked to the media. The longer the war lasts, the more taxpayers' money is spent on a reactionary war, and not on social maintenance and guarantees for the working class, the more the working class is distancing itself from supporting the regime and the war, the closer it becomes to fighting for its labour rights!

 

“Wildberry”: Active support for militant trade union

 

Supporters of “Socialist Tendency“ in Nizhny Novgorod carried out a number of "raids" in support of the trade union "Wildberry - True Employees”. Here is what one of our comrades reports: “In mid-March, the Wildberries management introduced a number of new predatory rules regarding both pickup point managers and ordinary workers. The trade union "PROWSOYUZ", which was promptly set up, defends only the petty-bourgeois interests of managers, which often run counter to the interests of workers in distribution points. Therefore, the trade union “Wildberry - True Employees” was created by ordinary employees of Wildberries.” (https://t.me/wb_pravda_sotrudnikov). Through this union, workers can coordinate, discuss and solve problems together, strike together and demand human working conditions from management.

As Marxists, we cannot remain aloof from these events and have considered it our duty to take part to the best of our ability in spreading the news about the creation of the trade union, as well as agitating the workers to join it. At the moment, we have visited about 30 Wildberry pickup points. At each point, we briefly told the workers about the union and handed out pre-printed leaflets, as well as pasted informational stickers near the entrance.

It should be noted that several times we met with complete indifference and misunderstanding on the part of employees, there were also those who said that they were satisfied with everything and that the manager of the pickup point bears the entire burden of innovation. However, the vast majority greeted the news of the creation of the union with sincere interest and enthusiasm, and in several points the workers even knew about the trade union "Wildberry - True Employees” and were members of it.

At the moment, after small indulgences, the leadership of the Wildberries is again starting to press on the workers, which means that the existence of a trade union that defends their interests is more relevant than ever!

Потеряв веру в губернаторов, в армейских генералов и даже в Путина, рядовые граждане страны начинают обращаться «за помощью» напрямую к владельцу наёмнической организации ЧВК «Вагнер» Пригожину. Так, 9 мая в телеграм-канале пророссийского пропагандиста Анатолия Шария было опубликовано видео, на котором жители прифронтовых населённых пунктов Белгородской области записали следующее обращение: «Война дошла уже и до нас, Евгений Викторович, спасите нас». Комментарий самого Шария мы считаем вполне исчерпывающим: «Опасная ситуация, когда спасителя видят не в президенте, не правда ли?» Это может быть связано ещё и с тем, что за всё время войны никто из генералов российской армии, находящихся на передовой, не получил медийной известности, никто из них не был допущен в СМИ как самостоятельный субъект, данной «привилегией» обладает только Пригожин, в то время как другие лица, связанные с руководством ВС РФ и узнаваемые среди населения, находятся глубоко в тылу.

Продолжаются точечные репрессии против антивоенных активистов — под удар репрессивной машины за последнее время попали те, кто выходит на площади с пикетами, те, кого обвиняют в «попытке теракта» (5 человек в Балашихе задержаны за то, что они с помощью подкопа хотели попасть на территорию военной части, подорвать технику и устроить поджог), на три года тюрьмы приговорён ветеран боевых действий в Афганистане и в Чечне за антивоенные посты в социальных сетях, под «горячую руку» попадают даже те, кто носит на себе одежду в жёлтых и синих цветах (Например, 9 мая в Москве задержали 39-летнего сотрудника психоневрологического интерната, поводом послужила его сине-жёлтая куртка; в тот же день в Москве силовики задержали 26-летнего волгоградца за штаны в той же расцветке, обоим грозит штраф 50 тысяч рублей за «дискредитацию ВС РФ»).

В апреле и мае число судебных дел против «отказников», то есть тех военных, которые отказываются идти воевать или выполнять соответствующие приказы, достигло рекордного значения — это свидетельство того, что недовольство в солдатских массах не просто не ослабевает с течением войны, но и растёт с каждым месяцем. Кроме этого, в интернете распространяется множество видео и иные свидетельства, на которых запечатлены внесудебные насильственные «наказания» над «провинившимися» военными, в том числе «отказниками». Можно предположить, какой боевой дух у сослуживцев жертв этих «наказаний».

Рамзан Кадыров, путинский глава Чечни, написал в своих социальных сетях о том, что он заплатил 18000 долларов украинским спецслужбам за то, что те, в сговоре с чешской полицией, выкрали в Чехии коня, принадлежащего Рамзану, которого 9 лет назад «арестовали» как санкционный «товар». Примечательно то, насколько легко Кадыров открыто заявляет о, фактически, спонсировании украинских силовиков, за что рядовой гражданин России сел бы в тюрьму на очень высокий срок по статье о «Спонсорстве терроризма».

Сегодня, 18 мая, утром силовики пришли с обыском к оппозиционному антивоенному независимому низовому политику Михаилу Лобанову. Его обвинили в том, что он является соратником беглого оппозиционного экс-депутата ГД РФ Ильи Пономарёва, который известен тем, что берёт ответственность за часть терактов в России на свои структуры. В качестве повода силовики распространили в СМИ якобы скриншоты переписки Михаила и Ильи, в которой они обсуждают совместные действия. Оба оппозиционных политика заявили, что скриншоты являются фейковыми. После допроса в Следственном Комитете Лобанов был отпущен в качестве свидетеля.

Также необходимо отметить то, что продолжается конфликт между Евгением Пригожиным и официальным военным ведомством. Так, Пригожин в очередной раз обвинил руководство Минобороны и Генштаба в том, что ЧВК «Вагнер» не получает должного количества боеприпасов на линии боестолкновений в украинском городе Бахмут, при этом демонстрируя десятки трупов убитых русских наёмников. Пригрозив покинуть занимаемые «Вагнером» позиции к 10 мая, в случае, если не произойдёт никаких изменений, Пригожин, фактически, шантажировал ВС РФ открытым военным мятежом. Насколько известно, на данный момент Минобороны исправили ситуацию и мятежа не произошло. Депутат ГД РФ Соболев Виктор пригрозил мобилизованным солдатам длительными сроками заключения в том случае, если перейдут из своих частей в ЧВК. Это также является частью конфликта внутри элит. Но самым ярким высказыванием Пригожина является его недвусмысленный намёк на то, что страной руководит «дедушка-мудак».

Работники Ульяновского Автомобильного Завода устроили стихийную забастовку из-за невыплаты зарплат на предприятии. Неизвестно, чем закончилась забастовка, но абсолютно понятно, что даже на тех предприятиях, которые связаны с ВПК, существуют проблемы с финансированием и коррупцией, а простые рабочие не собираются работать «за идею», бесплатно. Такие ситуации происходят часто, но далеко не все из них просачиваются в СМИ. Чем дольше длится война, чем больше средств налогоплательщиков расходуется на реакционную войну, а не на социальное содержание и гарантии для рабочего класса, тем дальше этот рабочий класс от поддержки режима и войны, тем ближе он к борьбе за свои трудовые права!

Сочувствующие Социалистической Тенденции в Нижнем Новгороде провели ряд «рейдов» в поддержку профсоюза «Вайлдберриз. Правда сотрудников». Вот, что передаёт один из наших товарищей:

«В середине марта руководство Wildberries ввело целый ряд новых грабительских правил, касающихся как менеджеров ПВЗ,так и простых рабочих. Оперативно созданный профсоюз "ПРОWСОЮЗ" отстаивает только мелкобуржуазные интересы менеджеров, которые зачастую идут вразрез с интересами рабочих пунктов выдачи. Тогда неравнодушными работниками Wildberries был создан профсоюз "Вайлдберриз.Правда Сотрудников" (https://t.me/wb_pravda_sotrudnikov). Через этот профсоюз работники могут координироваться, обсуждать и сообща решать проблемы, вместе бастовать и требовать от руководства человеческих условий труда.

Как марксисты, мы не можем остаться в стороне от этих событий и сочли своим долгом принять посильное участие в распространении новости о создании профсоюза, а также агитации работников за вступление в него. На данный момент мы обошли около 30 ПВЗ Вайлдбериз. В каждом пункте мы вкратце рассказывали работникам о профсоюзе и вручали заранее распечатанные листовки, а также расклеивали информационные стикеры около входа.

Надо отметить, что несколько раз мы встретили полное равнодушие и непонимание со стороны работников, были и такие, кто сказал, что их все устраивает и что всю тяжесть нововведений несет на себе менеджер ПВЗ. Однако подавляющее большинство встречало новость о создании профсоюза с искренней заинтересованностью и воодушевлением, а в нескольких пунктах работники уже даже знали о "Правде Сотрудников" и состояли в нем.

На настоящий момент после небольших послаблений руководство Wildberries снова начинает наседать на рабочих, а значит существование профсоюза, отстаивающего их интересы актуально как никогда!»

Prefacio del Consejo Editorial: A continuación publicamos otro informe escrito por Denis Sokolov, compañero de Социалистической Тенденцией (Tendencia Socialista) en Rusia, la sección rusa de la Corriente Comunista Revolucionaria Internacional.

El informe de los camaradas muestra el proceso “subterráneo” de crisis y de descontento popular que ha provocado la guerra reaccionaria de Putin contra Ucrania, conflicto que dura cada vez más sin un final a la vista y sin perspectivas de victoria.

Este proceso impulsa, por un lado, la profundización de las divisiones dentro del régimen, ya que un gran sector de la élite gobernante quiere poner fin a la guerra más temprano que tarde, por supuesto en términos ventajosos. Otro sector, representado por el jefe de la milicia mercenaria Wagner, comandada por Yevgeni Prigozhin (imagen), presiona por una intensificación de los esfuerzos de guerra con la esperanza de lograr la victoria total. Un proceso similar, por cierto, está teniendo lugar dentro de los gobiernos de las potencias occidentales, como hemos discutido en otros textos. (1)

Mientras tanto, el descontento popular va en aumento, aunque todavía se expresa solo en actividades de protesta pequeñas y locales. Sin embargo, podemos esperar que en algún momento exploten estas protestas -abriendo una crisis revolucionaria- si Rusia sufre una gran derrota o si las divisiones dentro de la élite gobernante provocan una crisis interna.

Desde la CCRI y nuestros camaradas en Rusia, seguimos luchando por una perspectiva internacionalista y antiimperialista consecuente. Reclamamos la derrota de las fuerzas rusas y la victoria militar del pueblo ucraniano, sin prestar ningún apoyo político al gobierno burgués y pro-OTAN de Zelensky. Llamamos a los trabajadores a oponerse, tanto al imperialismo ruso como al imperialismo de la OTAN. Apoyamos incondicionalmente el derecho de las naciones oprimidas en Rusia a la autodeterminación, incluido a que se separen y construyan sus propios estados independientes. Nuestros camaradas en Rusia defienden un programa de revolución socialista, es decir, la perspectiva de una insurrección de la clase obrera y los pueblos oprimidos en Rusia para derribar el régimen y construir una república obrera.

De particular interés es el informe de los camaradas sobre un número creciente de protestas de los trabajadores. Los esfuerzos masivos de Putin para movilizar los recursos del país en apoyo de la guerra ejercen una presión cada vez mayor sobre la clase trabajadora. De ahí que, a pesar de las condiciones autoritarias impuestas por el régimen bonapartista, haya un número creciente de protestas obreras. Como informan nuestros camaradas, los partidarios de la Tendencia Socialista están apoyando a los trabajadores en estos conflictos y defienden una perspectiva de lucha de clases.

Informe de Denis Sokolov:

 

Habiendo perdido la fe en los gobernadores, en los generales del ejército e incluso en Putin, los ciudadanos comunes del país comienzan a "pedir ayuda" directamente al propietario de la organización mercenaria PMC "Wagner" Prigozhin. Por ejemplo, el 9 de mayo, se publicó un video en el canal Telegram del propagandista prorruso Anatoly Shariy, en el que los residentes de los asentamientos de primera línea de la región de Belgorod grabaron el siguiente llamamiento: “La guerra ya nos ha alcanzado, Yevgeny Viktorovich, sálvanos”.

Consideramos que el propio comentario de Shariy es bastante revelador: "Es una situación peligrosa cuando el presidente no es visto como un salvador, ¿no es así?" Esto también puede deberse al hecho de que, durante todo el período de la guerra, ninguno de los generales del ejército ruso que estaban en el frente recibió fama mediática, ninguno de ellos fue admitido en los medios como sujeto independiente, solo Prigogine tiene este "privilegio", mientras que otras personas asociadas con el liderazgo de las Fuerzas Armadas de la Federación Rusa (RF) están en la retaguardia.

 

Protestas contra la guerra

 

Continúa la represión selectiva contra los activistas contrarios a la guerra. Tanto los que acuden a las plazas con los piquetes como los que son acusados de “tentativa de acto terrorista” han caído bajo el golpe de la maquinaria represiva. Por ejemplo, 5 personas en Balashikha fueron detenidas porque querían llegar al territorio de una unidad militar, volar equipos y prender fuego. Un veterano de las operaciones militares en Afganistán y Chechenia fue condenado a tres años de prisión por publicaciones contra la guerra en las redes sociales.

Incluso aquellos que usan ropa amarilla y azul son reprimidos, como sucedió el 9 de mayo con un empleado de un internado psiconeurológico de 39 años, que fue detenido en Moscú por llevar puesta una chaqueta azul y amarilla. El mismo día, las fuerzas de seguridad de Moscú detuvieron a un ciudadano de Volgogrado de 26 años por pantalones del mismo color, ambos enfrentan una multa de 50 mil rublos por "desacreditar a las Fuerzas Armadas de la Federación Rusa".

En abril y mayo, el número de procesos judiciales contra los "refuseniks", es decir, aquellos soldados que se niegan a ir a la guerra o a cumplir órdenes pertinentes, alcanzó un nivel récord: esto es una prueba de que el descontento entre las masas de soldados no solo no se debilita con, sino que aumenta cada mes. Además, circulan muchos videos y otras pruebas en Internet que muestran “castigos” violentos extrajudiciales contra militares “culpables”, incluidos los “refuseniks”. Se puede suponer qué tipo de espíritu de lucha tienen los colegas de las víctimas de estos "castigos".

Ramzan Kadyrov, jefe de Putin en Chechenia, publicó en sus redes sociales que pagó 18.000 dólares a los servicios secretos ucranianos por robar un caballo que le pertenecía en la República Checa, que fue "arrestado" hace nueve años como "bienes" sancionados. Es de destacar la facilidad con la que Kadyrov declara abiertamente, de hecho, que patrocina a las fuerzas de seguridad ucranianas, por lo que un ciudadano ruso común iría a la cárcel durante mucho tiempo en virtud del artículo sobre "patrocinio del terrorismo".

Hoy, 18 de mayo, por la mañana, las fuerzas de seguridad ejecutaron una orden de allanamiento contra Mikhail Lobanov, un político opositor conocido por su postura independiente contra la guerra. Conflicto dentro de la élite gobernante

 

También se debe tener en cuenta que el conflicto continúa entre Yevgeny Prigozhin y el departamento militar oficial. Prigozhin había acusado a los líderes del Ministerio de Defensa y al Estado Mayor del hecho de que su milicia, "Wagner", no recibía la cantidad adecuada de municiones en la línea de enfrentamientos en la ciudad ucraniana de Bakhmut, mientras mostraba decenas de cadáveres de mercenarios rusos muertos.

Al amenazar con abandonar las posiciones ocupadas por Wagner para el 10 de mayo, si no se producían cambios, Prigozhin, de hecho, chantajeó a las Fuerzas Armadas con un motín militar abierto. Hasta donde sabemos, de momento el Ministerio de Defensa ha corregido la situación y no se ha producido la rebelión. Esto también es parte del conflicto dentro de las élites. Pero la declaración más llamativa de Prigozhin es su inequívoca alusión a que el país está dirigido por "un abuelo idiota", lo que es un ataque sin precedentes contra el propio Putin.

Los empleados de la planta de automóviles de Ulyanovsk organizaron una huelga espontánea debido a la falta de pago de salarios en la empresa. No se sabe cómo terminó la huelga, pero está absolutamente claro que incluso en aquellas empresas que están conectadas con el complejo militar-industrial, hay problemas de financiamiento y corrupción.

Este tipo de situaciones ocurren con frecuencia, pero no todas se filtran a los medios. Cuanto más dura la guerra, más dinero de los contribuyentes se gasta en una guerra reaccionaria, y no en mantenimiento social y garantías para la clase obrera, cuanto más se aleja la clase obrera de apoyar al régimen y la guerra, más se acerca a luchar por sus derechos laborales!

 

“Wildberry”: Apoyo activo al sindicato militante

 

Los partidarios de la "Tendencia Socialista" en Nizhny Novgorod llevaron a cabo una serie de "redadas" en apoyo del sindicato "Wildberry - True Employees". Esto es lo que informa uno de nuestros camaradas: "A mediados de marzo, la dirección de Wildberries introdujo una serie de nuevas reglas depredadoras tanto para los gerentes de los puntos de recogida como para los trabajadores ordinarios. El sindicato "PROWSOYUZ", que se creó rápidamente, defiende solo los intereses pequeñoburgueses de los gerentes, que a menudo van en contra de los intereses de los trabajadores en los puntos de distribución. A través de este sindicato, los trabajadores pueden coordinar, discutir y resolver problemas juntos, hacer huelga y exigir condiciones laborales humanas a la dirección. Como marxistas, no podemos quedarnos al margen de estos hechos y hemos considerado nuestro deber participar en la medida de nuestras posibilidades en la difusión de la noticia de la creación del sindicato, así como en la movilización de los trabajadores para que se afilien a él.

Por el momento, hemos visitado unos 30 puntos de recogida de Wildberry, en cada punto les contamos brevemente a los trabajadores sobre el sindicato y les entregamos folletos preimpresos, así como pegatinas informativas pegadas cerca de la entrada. Cabe señalar que varias veces nos encontramos con total indiferencia e incomprensión por parte de los empleados, también hubo quienes dijeron que estaban satisfechos con todo y que el encargado del punto de recogida lleva todo el peso de la innovación.

Sin embargo, la gran mayoría recibió la noticia de la creación del sindicato con sincero interés y entusiasmo, y, en varios puntos, los trabajadores incluso conocían el sindicato “Wildberry - True Employees” y ya eran miembros del mismo. En este momento, después de pequeñas concesiones, la dirección de Wildberries vuelve a presionar a los trabajadores, lo que significa que la existencia de un sindicato que defienda sus intereses es más relevante que nunca.
