Argentina: La izquierda no debe atarse al carro del peronismo y Cristina Kirchner

 

Joint Statement of PSTu, PCT, PSL and CS, 17 June 2025

 

 

 

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner will be imprisoned starting this Wednesday. This event has polarized the entire country, impacts the electoral process, and has forced all political and union organizations to take a position.

 

The best-known left-wing parties – those that are part of the FITU, the New MAS, and Política Obrera—and their most well-known leaders (from Bregman and Del Caño to Belliboni and Solano, from Altamira to Castañeira, etc.) have sided with Cristina, denouncing, along with the Peronist apparatus, an "anti-democratic persecution."

 

We consider this position a serious error; it is opportunistic, driven by electoral calculations, and represents a vindication of Cristina. We respect the feelings of many workers who lament their leader's situation, but we do not share it. And we are forced to tell the truth: Cristina reaps what she has sown.

 

This dynamic pushes them toward reformist positions, contradictory to the possibility of resolving unmet workers' and popular demands. To achieve this, the working class needs a left that does not conciliate with its executioners, but rather positions itself and presents itself – in all arenas – as the irreconcilable enemy of the increasingly destructive and inhumane capitalist system.

 

 

 

The Bosses' Justice System

 

 

 

The political right and most of the media celebrate what they present as "a triumph against corruption." It is pure hypocrisy. The Justice System is part of the most corrupt part of the political regime they sell us as "democracy." And the Supreme Court is its ultimate expression. None of them has bothered about the deals of Menem, Macri, or Milei, similar to those of the Kirchners. We repudiate this justice system, as well as all the institutions of "democracy," which only serve to perpetuate exploitation, submission to the International Monetary Fund, and foreign and national capital. We have nothing to do with that, and we reject its sentences. In this case, a sentence guided by electoral calculations. But that doesn't lead us to defend Cristina.

 

 

 

She is not a "political prisoner"

 

 

 

The Peronist apparatus denounces "persecution" and an "attack on democracy." None of this is true. CFK will not be imprisoned for standing up to the powerful, but rather a victim of her own actions. Union leaders, incapable of lifting a finger in defence of the working class, and who, like all Peronism, have been complicit in Milei's brutal austerity measures, are now threatening mobilization. Peronist governments, like all others, have persecuted the activists.

 

Among us are the persecuted and imprisoned comrades Sebastián Romero and Daniel Ruiz. We also had comrades detained in Caleta Olivia (Santa Cruz) and in Lomas de Zamora, like Carlos Olivera, who spent almost four years in prison for confronting Gerardo Martínez's gang. All of them were prosecuted by the justice system that obeyed Néstor and Cristina Kirchner. Their governments promoted Project X and the Anti-Terrorism Law. Among us are the persecuted from Las Heras, tried for confronting Zionism that attacks Palestine. These and the disappeared during the dictatorship are the true "persecuted." What does Cristina have to do with them?

 

 

 

A fight between thieves

 

 

 

In reality, this is a dispute between sectors of the bosses for power and money. There is no "progressive" sector in this matter. It is one more step in the "rift" that serves to prevent the working class and the poor from breaking with all employers' biases and advancing their struggle for a new political direction, and for a solution opposed to all of them. Therefore, the defence of Peronism and its "leader" by the so-called revolutionary left is doubly misguided. On the contrary, at a time when millions of workers are showing their discontent with Peronism, more than ever we need to distance ourselves from all of them and present a completely independent alternative, opposed to all employer variants.

CFK estará presa desde este miércoles. Este hecho ha polarizado a todo el país, impacta sobre el proceso electoral y ha obligado a un posicionamiento a todas las organizaciones políticas y sindicales.

 

Los partidos de izquierda más conocidos -los que son parte del FITU, el Nuevo MAS, Política Obrera- y sus dirigentes más conocidos (desde Bregman y Del Caño hasta Belliboni y Solano, desde Altamira hasta Castañeira, etc.) se han ubicado del lado de Cristina, denunciando junto al aparato peronista, una “persecución antidemocrática”.

 

Consideramos un serio error esta postura, que es oportunista, guiada por un cálculo electoral y representa una reivindicación a Cristina. Respetamos el sentimiento de muchas y muchos trabajadores que lamentan la situación de su líder, pero no la compartimos. Y nos vemos obligados a decir la verdad: Cristina recoge lo que ha sembrado.

 

Esta dinámica los empuja hacia posiciones reformistas, contradictorias con la posibilidad de resolver las demandas obreras y populares insatisfechas. Para lograrlo, la clase trabajadora necesita contar con una izquierda, que no concilie con sus verdugos, sino que se ubique y postule -en todos los escenarios- como enemiga irreconciliable del sistema capitalista, cada vez más destructivo e inhumano.

 

 

 

La Justicia patronal

 

 

 

La derecha política y la mayor parte de los medios festeja lo que presentan como “un triunfo contra la corrupción”. Es pura hipocresía. La Justicia es parte de lo más corrupto del régimen político que nos venden como “democracia”. Y la Corte su máxima expresión. Ninguno de ellos se ha preocupado por los negociados de Menem, Macri o Milei, similares a los de los Kirchner. Repudiamos esa Justicia, al igual que el conjunto de las instituciones de la “democracia”, que solo sirven para perpetuar la explotación, la sumisión al Fondo Monetario y los capitales extranjeros y nacionales. No tenemos nada que ver con eso, y rechazamos sus sentencias. En este caso, una sentencia guiada por un cálculo electoral. Pero eso no nos lleva a defender a Cristina.

 

 

 

No es una “presa política”

 

 

 

El aparato peronista denuncia una “persecución”, y un “atentado contra la democracia”. Nada de eso es cierto. CFK no estará presa por enfrentar a los poderosos, sino víctima de sus propios actos. Los dirigentes sindicales incapaces de mover un dedo en defensa de la clase obrera, y que como todo el peronismo han sido cómplices del ajuste brutal de Milei, ahora amenazan con la movilización. Los gobiernos peronistas, como los demás, han perseguido a los luchadores.

 

Entre nosotros están los compañeros perseguidos y encarcelados Sebastián Romero y Daniel Ruiz. También tuvimos camaradas detenidos en Caleta Olivia (Santa Cruz) y en Lomas de Zamora, como Carlos Olivera, casi cuatro años en la cárcel por enfrentar a la patota de Gerardo Martínez. Todos ellos fueron procesados por la Justicia que obedecía a Néstor y Cristina Kirchner. Sus gobiernos impulsaron el Proyecto X y la Ley antiterrorista. Entre nosotros están los perseguidos de Las Heras, enjuiciados por enfrentar al sionismo que ataca Palestina. Esos y los desaparecidos de la Dictadura son los verdaderos “perseguidos”. ¿Qué tiene que ver Cristina con ellos?

 

 

 

Una pelea entre ladrones

 

 

 

En realidad, se trata de una disputa entre sectores patronales por el poder y el dinero. No hay un sector “progresivo” en esta cuestión. Es un paso más de la “grieta” que sirve para impedir que la clase trabajadora y el pueblo pobre rompa con toda variante patronal y avance en su lucha por una nueva dirección política, y por una salida opuesta a todos ellos. Por eso, es doblemente equivocada la defensa del peronismo y su “jefa” de parte de la izquierda que se dice revolucionaria. Al contrario, en tiempos en que millones de trabajadores se muestran hastiados del peronismo, más que nunca necesitamos tomar distancia de todos ellos, presentar una alternativa completamente independiente, opuesta a todas las variantes patronales, ante cada hecho de la realidad.
