Three dozen people, nearly all them from the Sudanese migrant community, assembled for a spontaneous rally on 5 June in front of the embassy of the United Arab Emirates. They protested against the bloody massacre in Sudan which is currently taking place at the order of the army leadership and which has already resulted in at least 60 people dead.
Like the last times, the organizers of the Sudanese community invited the Austrian section of the RCIT to attend and speak at the rally. Our comrade Michael Pröbsting, International Secretary of the RCIT, addressed the participants and warned against the consequences of this coup. He stressed that such a massacre could not have taken place without the support of the dictatorships in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. He expressed the full support for a general strike to bring down the army command.
The RCIT has published a statement on the popular insurrection in Sudan which can be read at https://www.thecommunists.net/worldwide/africa-and-middle-east/sudan-fight-back-against-the-generals-with-a-general-strike/.
