Peace talks

 

 

 

The key political event of spring 2025 was the start of a new round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul. On May 16, for the first time in three years, the first round of negotiations between the warring parties took place. Delegations from Russia and Ukraine met and put forward their vision of peace. The conditions turned out to be unacceptable for both sides. Russia demanded the same things it demanded in 2022 – demilitarization of the Ukrainian army, holding presidential elections, introducing Russian as the state language, withdrawing the Ukrainian Armed Forces from four regions of eastern and southern Ukraine and recognizing them as Russian at the official level, introducing non-aligned status by Ukraine and abandoning its desire to join NATO. Ukraine demanded a ceasefire along the front line, stopping shelling of its territory and civilian infrastructure.

 

US President Donald Trump played an important role in the beginning of the negotiation process. He threatened and continues to threaten Ukraine to cut off any support and aid allocated under the Joe Biden administration, he even moved from words to deeds for a short period of time, and what this led to on the battlefield, we will consider further. Donald Trump speaks more flatteringly towards Russia and Vladimir Putin, hoping to restore full-fledged trade relations with them and, instead of threats, proposed easing or even completely lifting anti-Russian sanctions and normalizing relations. The Kremlin saw its benefit in this, because sanctions deal a serious blow to the country's economy. But Putin did not take the negotiations seriously, but played the bluff card, doing nothing significant to stop the invasion of sovereign Ukraine. The negotiations did not lead to anything meaningful, except for the exchange of prisoners of war in the format of 1000 for 1000.

 

 

 

Easter and May truces

 

 

 

Also in March and May, Vladimir Putin unilaterally introduced short-term truces, lasting from one to several days, along the entire front. Ukraine responded to these actions of the leader of the Russian Federation with demands to establish a truce lasting 30 days. In general, the truces were observed only partially in some areas of the front. The Russian Armed Forces took advantage of them in order to consolidate their troops in the "gray zone" and evacuate the bodies of the dead from the frontline territory. In general, these "truces" did not lead to any serious consequences. Rather, they were significant as a political PR move for the Russian authorities, the main goal of which was to throw dust in the eyes of Trump and the world community, allegedly it is Ukraine that does not want peace, and Russia is doing everything possible for this.

 

 

 

Russia's return of control over the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region

 

 

 

In March-April, Russian troops exerted serious pressure on the territories of the Kursk region occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This "fortunately" coincided with the US administration's suspension of the transmission of satellite data to Ukrainian troops, which served as high-quality reconnaissance of the location of Russian troops. The result of a major offensive was the almost complete establishment of control by Russian troops over the Sudzhansky district. Having suffered heavy losses, the Russian Armed Forces were able to reach the Russian-Ukrainian border and continue the offensive in the Sumy region of Ukraine, where heavy fighting is currently taking place and the Russian side is slowly advancing deep into Ukrainian territory. All this has cast serious doubt on the expediency of the Kursk operation of the Ukrainian troops. Having also suffered many losses in manpower and equipment, the Ukrainian Armed Forces failed to achieve a significant military advantage in this section of the front, and the rear services and civil authorities were not sufficiently concerned about the defence of the rear lines in the Sumy region. This resulted in the occupation of the Ukrainian border territory by Russian troops, from where they are already able to reach the borders of the city of Sumy using fiber-optic drones.

 

 

 

Inside Russia

 

 

 

In Russia itself, chauvinistic hysteria continued to escalate. Throughout the spring, the fascist movement "Russian Community" raised its head higher and higher, organizing pogroms and murders, as well as joint raids with the police against labour migrants. Enjoying the patronage of certain "Kremlin towers", the movement continues to gain strength and becomes increasingly significant for the public life of Russia.

Мирные переговоры

 

 

 

Ключевым политическим событием весны 2025 года стало начало нового витка переговоров между Россией и Украиной в Стамбуле. 16 мая впервые за три года прошел первый раунд переговоров между воюющими сторонами. Делегации из России и Украины встретились и выдвинули своё видение наступления мира. Условия оказались неприемлемыми для обеих сторон. Россия требовала всего того же, что она требовала в 2022 году - демилитаризации украинской армии, проведения выборов президента, введения русского языка как государственного, отвода ВСУ из 4 областей восточной и южной Украины и признания их российскими на официальном уровне, введение Украиной внеблокового статуса и отказ от стремления вступления в НАТО. Украина требовала заключения перемирия по линии фронта, прекращения обстрелов своей территории и гражданской инфраструктуры.

 

Не последнюю роль в начале переговорного процесса сыграл президент США Дональд Трамп. Он угрожал и продолжает угрожать Украине перекрыть какую-либо поддержку и помощь, выделенную ещё при администрации Джо Байдена, он даже перешëл от слов к делу на небольшой промежуток времени, а к чему это привело на полях сражений, мы рассмотрим далее. В сторону России и Владимира Путина Дональд Трамп отзывается более лестно, надеясь восстановить с ней полноценные торговые отношения и, вместо угроз, предлагал ослабление или вообще полное снятие антироссийских санкций и нормализацию отношений. Кремль увидел в этом свою выгоду, ведь санкции наносят серьезный удар по экономике страны. Но Путин не стал серьезно относиться к переговорам, а разыграл карту блефа, не делая ничего существенного для того, чтобы остановить вторжение на территорию суверенной Украины.

 

Переговоры ни к чему глобальному не привели, кроме как к обмену военнопленными в формате 1000 на 1000.

 

 

 

Пасхальное и майское перемирия

 

 

 

Также в марте и в мае Владимир Путин в одностороннем порядке вводил краткосрочные, длительностью от одних до нескольких суток перемирия по всему фронту. Украина на эти действия предводителя РФ отвечала требованиями установить перемирие длительностью 30 дней. В целом перемирия соблюдались лишь частично на некоторых участках фронта. ВС РФ воспользовались ими с целью закрепления своих военных в «серой зоне» и эвакуации тел погибших с фронтовой территории. В целом ни к каким серьезным последствиям данные «перемирия» не привели. Скорее они имели значимость политического пиар-хода для российских властей, основной задачей которого было пустить пыль в глаза Трампа и мировой общественности, якобы это именно Украина не хочет мира, а Россия делает всё возможное для этого.

 

 

 

Возвращение Россией контроля над Суджанским районом Курской области

 

 

 

В марте-апреле российские войска оказывали серьёзный натиск на занятые ВСУ территории Курской области. На это «удачно» наложилась остановка администрацией США передачи спутниковых данных украинским войскам, которые служили качественной разведкой расположения российских войск. Итогом крупного наступления стало практически полное установление контроля российскими войсками над Суджанским районом. Понеся большие потери, ВС РФ смогли достичь российско-украинской границы и продолжить наступление уже в Сумской области Украины, в которой сейчас происходят тяжелые бои и медленное продвижение российской стороны вглубь украинской территории. Всё это поставило под серьезные сомнения целесообразность курской операции украинских войск. Также понеся немало потерь в живой силе и технике, ВСУ не удалось достичь значительного военного перевеса на данном участке фронта, а тыловые службы и гражданские власти недостаточно озаботились об обороне тыловых рубежей в Сумщине, следствием чего стала оккупация российскими войсками приграничной украинской территории, откуда они уже в состоянии достигать рубежей города Сумы с помощью дронов на опто-волокне.

 

 

 

Внутри России

 

 

 

В самой России продолжалось нагнетение шовинистической истерии. На протяжении всей весны всё выше голову поднимало фашистское движение "Русская община", которое устраивало погромы и убийства, а так же совместные с полицией рейды направленные против трудовых мигрантов. Пользуясь покровительством определённых "башен Кремля", движение продолжает набирать силу и становится всё более значимым для общественной жизни России.
