We Condemn the Zionist-American Attack on Iran! Defend Iran!
Joint Statement by Socialist Organizations (see the Note at the End of the Text), 23 June 2025
On 13 June, Israel started another war in the Middle East. Until now it has killed nearly 600 people and destroyed numerous buildings. In response, Iran retaliated and fired a number of missiles against the settler state. Nine days later, the far-right Donald Trump, in the name of Yankee imperialism, joined the war and attacked three nuclear sites with GBU-57 “bunker buster” bombs – the most powerful non-nuclear weapons in the world. While Trump triumphantly claims that “Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated”, Iranian officials say that there has been only limited damage at the nuclear sites.
The Zionist-American attack on Iran is a continuation of the long-term aggression of Israel and the U.S. against the Arab and Muslim people in the Middle East. Since the beginning of Israel’s existence in 1948, the Zionist state has expelled the Palestinian population from its homeland (the Nakba) and launched numerous wars against all neighbouring countries. The current conflict takes place against the background of the genocidal war which the Zionist state wages against the Palestinian people in Gaza. Furthermore, Israel has repeatedly attacked Syria and Lebanon and occupies parts of these countries.
Likewise, U.S. imperialism has a long history of aggression in the Middle East – from Lebanon in the 1980s to the occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq.
We condemn this new war of aggression by Israel and the U.S. and support Iran’s counterattacks. We do so because such counterattacks are an expression of the struggle of the Arab and Muslim peoples against the military enclave of imperialism, the State of Israel, which can only maintain itself through permanent military aggression and attacks. In this conflict, we are in the military camp of Iran and against the Zionist-American monster.
At the same time, we maintain our complete political independence from the Mullah regime. We have always supported the protests of the Iranian masses against the bourgeois and theocratic dictatorship that despotically rules the country.
The path to victory against the Zionist/imperialist aggressors lies in the Arab and Muslim masses, who support Palestine in its struggle against the State of Israel, carrying out a new Arab Spring – a revolution that confronts their own reactionary governments in the region. It is equally necessary to build international solidarity with Palestine, and now with Iran, in the imperialist countries.
This is why we call all socialists, anti-imperialists and democrats to join international solidarity activities to stop the Zionist monster massacring the Arab and Muslim peoples. We denounce those “socialists” who refuse to defend Iran. Socialists must rally in defence of Iran and for the defeat of the Zionist/imperialist aggressor!
We call on the peoples of the world to mobilize to repudiate the military aggression against Iran, led by the criminals Trump and Netanyahu. We call for the broadest unity of action to defeat them. In this way, we also contribute to the heroic struggle of the Palestinian people to stop ethnic cleansing and Zionist genocide and achieve a Free Palestine from the river to the sea.

¡Condenamos el ataque sionista-estadounidense contra Irán! ¡Defendamos Irán!

El 13 de junio, Israel inició otra guerra en Oriente Medio. Hasta ahora, ha causado la muerte de casi 600 personas y ha destruido numerosos edificios. En respuesta, Irán tomó represalias y lanzó varios misiles contra el Estado colonizador. Nueve días después, el ultraderechista Donald Trump, en nombre del imperialismo yanky, se unió a la guerra y atacó tres instalaciones nucleares con bombas GBU-57 «bunker buster», las armas no nucleares más potentes del mundo. Mientras Trump afirma triunfalmente que «las principales instalaciones de enriquecimiento nuclear de Irán han sido completamente destruidas», las autoridades iraníes afirman que los daños en las instalaciones nucleares han sido limitados.
El ataque sionista-estadounidense contra Irán es una continuación de la agresión a largo plazo de Israel y Estados Unidos contra los pueblos árabes y musulmanes de Oriente Medio. Desde el inicio de la existencia de Israel en 1948, el estado sionista ha expulsado a la población palestina de su tierra natal (la Nakba) y ha lanzado numerosas guerras contra todos los países vecinos. El conflicto actual se desarrolla en el contexto de la guerra genocida que el Estado sionista libra contra el pueblo palestino en Gaza. Además, Israel ha atacado repetidamente Siria y Líbano y ocupa partes de estos países.
Del mismo modo, el imperialismo estadounidense tiene una larga historia de agresiones en Oriente Medio, desde el Líbano en la década de 1980 hasta la ocupación de Afganistán e Irak.
Condenamos esta nueva guerra de agresión de Israel y Estados Unidos y apoyamos los contraataques de Irán. Lo hacemos porque dichos contraataques son una expresión de la lucha de los pueblos árabes y musulmanes contra el enclave militar del imperialismo, el Estado de Israel, que solo puede mantenerse mediante agresiones y ataques militares permanentes. En este conflicto, estamos en el bando militar de Irán y en contra del monstruo sionista-estadounidense.
Al mismo tiempo, mantenemos nuestra completa independencia política del régimen de los mulás. Siempre hemos apoyado las protestas de las masas iraníes contra la dictadura burguesa y teocrática, que gobierna de forma despótica el país.
El camino para la victoria contra los agresores sionistas/imperialistas, pasa por que las masas árabes y musulmanas que apoyan a Palestina en su lucha contra el Estado de Israel lleven a cabo una nueva Primavera Árabe. Esto es; una revolución que enfrente sus propios gobiernos reaccionarios en la región. E igualmente es necesario avivar la solidaridad internacional con Palestina y ahora con Irán, en los países imperialistas
Es por esto que hacemos un llamamiento a todos los socialistas, antiimperialistas y demócratas para que se unan a las actividades de solidaridad internacional para detener al monstruo sionista que masacra a los pueblos árabes y musulmanes. Denunciamos a aquellos «socialistas» que se niegan a defender Irán. Los socialistas deben unirse en defensa de Irán y para derrotar al agresor sionista/imperialista!
Llamamos a los pueblos del mundo a movilizarse para repudiar la agresión militar a Irán, encabezadas por los criminales de Trump y Netanyahu. Llamamos a lograr la más amplia unidad de acción para derrotarlos. De esta forma también contribuimos a la heroica lucha del pueblo palestino para terminar con la limpieza étnica y el genocidio sionista y lograr una Palestina Libre del río al mar.
¡Defendamos a Irán, derrotemos a Israel y al imperialismo estadounidense!
