Fighting for Socialist Revolution in Kenya and Globally!

Joint Statement on Fusion between the Revolutionary Socialist League (Kenya) and the Revolutionary Communist International Tendency (RCIT), 19 June 2020

1.             After nearly a year of systematic discussion and collaboration the Revolutionary Socialist League (Kenya) and the Revolutionary Communist International Tendency (RCIT) have agreed to fuse. As a result, the RSL will become the sympathizing section of the RCIT in Kenya with representation on the RCIT’s international leadership body.

2.             The fusion reflects a serious process of rapprochement due to programmatic discussions as well as practical collaboration. In particular we have been able to establish a regular and intensive joint work during the period of the counter-revolutionary Lockdown policy of the ruling class. In this phase, we were able to elaborate a joint approach in the struggle against this reactionary offensive (See: Joint Statement: Kenya: Condemnation of the State Repression in Mombasa, 29 March 2020, https://www.thecommunists.net/worldwide/africa-and-middle-east/kenya-condemnation-of-the-state-repression-in-mombasa/; Joint Statement: For a people-based approach to the COVID-19 Crisis! Equally important, we could also collaborate closely in launching joint campaigning initiatives. (See Joint Platform: YES to Jobs, Food and Health! NO to Lockdown, State Repression and Poverty! June 2020, https://www.thecommunists.net/worldwide/africa-and-middle-east/joint-platform-yes-to-jobs-food-and-health-no-to-lockdown-state-repression-and-poverty/ and Report of the African Revolutionary and Progressive Organisations Meeting held on 9th May 2020, via Zoom, https://www.thecommunists.net/rcit/report-of-african-progressive-organisations-meeting-9-5-2020/) Furthermore, the RSL has been able to organize – in conjunction with the Mathare Social Justice Centre – an important demonstration against police violence which was widely reported in Kenyan as well as world media. (See the report: Kenya: The Oppressed Masses demand “Stop Killing Us!”, https://www.thecommunists.net/worldwide/africa-and-middle-east/demonstration-against-police-brutality-in-nairobi-8-6-2020/)

3.             Our fusion is based on a broad range of programmatic agreements. This is reflected in various joint programmatic documents (See: Action Program: Forward to a Free and Socialist Kenya! September 2019, https://www.thecommunists.net/theory/action-program-forward-to-a-free-and-socialist-kenya/; Joint Statement: Down with French Neo-Colonialism in West Africa! 12 February 2020, https://www.thecommunists.net/worldwide/africa-and-middle-east/joint-statement-down-with-french-neo-colonialism-in-west-africa/; Joint Statement: Revolutionary Socialists and Bolivarianism, 9 June 2020, https://www.thecommunists.net/rcit/revolutionary-socialists-and-bolivarianism/; Joint Statement: For Revolutionary Unity in a World Full of Explosive Tensions! August 2019, https://www.thecommunists.net/rcit/for-revolutionary-unity-in-a-world-full-of-explosive-tensions/). In addition, the RSL expressed agreement with the RCIT’s fundamental programmatic documents (Manifesto for the Revolutionary Liberation of Black Africa, https://www.thecommunists.net/theory/manifesto-for-the-revolutionary-liberation-of-black-africa/; Manifesto for Revolutionary Liberation, https://www.thecommunists.net/rcit-program-2016/)

4.             We call upon revolutionaries in Kenya and Africa to join us in our struggle to rebuild a Revolutionary World Party – an international party determined to fight for socialist revolution in Africa and around the world!
