Hacia más guerras en Oriente Medio

A key element of the new foreign policy strategy of the Trump Administration is the pacification of the Middle East by an alliance of Israel and pro-Western Arab states under the patronage of American imperialism. This would allow the U.S. to stop military interventions in the region and to withdraw a large part of its overstretched armed forces. This is part of their new foreign policy concept which recognises the decline of the former hegemon and advocates a shift towards detente with Russian and Chinese imperialism as well as a focus on total domination of the “Western hemisphere”. Trump’s “pacifist” policy towards Putin, aimed at closer collaboration with Russia and plundering of the Ukraine, the aggressive stance against the European Union and his military aggression against Venezuela are a result of this new strategy. [1]

 

As the RCIT has explained somewhere else, this concept is a realistic step … towards a reactionary utopia. ^[2] It is realistic as it finally recognises that the U.S. is no longer in a position to impose its will on the world. Washington lacks the economic basis to dominate the capitalist world and even its military and financial advantages are no longer sufficient to allow it playing the role it did for most of the time after 1945. This concept is however based on the reactionary utopia that the Great Powers could peacefully coexist on the basis of the division of the world into several spheres of influence. Such a concept is reactionary as it advocates a world where several imperialist powers dominate and exploit their respective sphere of influence and agree not to touch the sphere of their rivals.

 

However, while such a peaceful coexistence of Great Powers might have been possible in certain periods in the pre-imperialist epoch in the 19^th century (e.g. in 1815-48 or in the decades after the Berlin Congress 1878), this is no longer the case in the 21^st century. In a world characterised by capitalist decline – economic stagnation, climate catastrophe, the accelerating contradiction between globalised productive forces and national states, political polarisation, wars, counterrevolutions and revolutions – peaceful coexistence between imperialist (and regional) powers is impossible. The history of the first half of the 20^th century has demonstrated this very clearly.

 

Trump’s concept of a multi-polar imperialist world – which is basically shared by the Stalinist-populist advocates of a world where BRICS+ and Western powers peacefully coexist – is therefore a reactionary utopia. [3]

 

 

 

Israel’s Forever Wars vs. peaceful coexistence

 

 

 

Trump’s concept of a peaceful coexistence of Israel and Muslim regional powers in the Middle East is also a reactionary utopia. In a world of capitalist decline and with a former hegemon in retreat from the Middle East, the ruling class of all regional powers act on the principle of "every man for himself". The Zionist settler state – a junior imperialism in close alliance with the U.S. – has hoped to advance its position by starting forever wars which would a) annihilate the Palestinian resistance, b) humiliate and subjugate the Muslim countries in the region and c) force the U.S. to keep militarily engaged in the Middle East by supporting Israel whenever necessary.

 

But while Trump shares the Zionist contempt for the Muslim peoples in general and the Palestinians in particular, he has no interest in joining Israel’s forever wars for the above-mentioned reasons. Furthermore, while Israel achieved some military successes since 7 October, it failed to destroy the heroic Palestinian resistance in Gaza despite two years of uninterrupted genocide. Likewise, Iran is still standing – despite the combined Zionist-American aggression – and Türkiye has risen as a formidable challenger of Israel’s position in the region. [4] And politically, Israel has become a pariah hated by the masses in Muslim countries as well as globally thanks to the great pro-Palestine solidarity movement.

 

At the same, Netanyahu forever wars accelerate the political contradictions within Israel and undermine the very fundament of Zionism as an increasing number of Israeli’s wants to leave the settler state. 125,000 Israelis left the Zionist state between early 2022 and mid-2024 and according to a study by the Israel Democracy Institute, published last month, 27% of Israelis are considering leaving. [5]

 

The latest events demonstrate that the Middle East is far away from peaceful coexistence but is rather heading towards new wars. Netanyahu is determined to launch another attack against Iran after Israel – with support of the U.S. – failed to decisively defeat the Persian state in the 12-days in June 2025. According to various reports, Netanyahu is currently lobbying Trump to get his approval for another attack on Iran. “When they meet at Mar-a-Lago on Monday afternoon, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to try to convince President Donald Trump to approve a potential Israeli strike on Iran’s ballistic missile program …” [6]

 

Such a war is a risky enterprise – while Israel severely hit Iran in June it also suffered a series of harsh blows – and can't be done without full support of the U.S. It is far from certain that the Zionists and their American ally will be more successful than they were six months ago. Furthermore, another war will result in severe economic blows for Israel’s economy and might provoke another wave of emigration of settlers to Europe and the U.S.

 

At the same time, the so-called peace process in Gaza remains stuck in a cul-de-sac. Hamas correctly opposes disarmament, and Muslim states refuse to deploy troops for an International Stabilization Force which would have to disarm forcefully the Palestinian resistance. ^[7]

 

 

 

The divisive role of the Zionist ally UAE

 

 

 

Another development which demonstrates Israel’s desire to continue its policy of forever wars is its diplomatic recognition – as the first state in the world – of the break-away statelet Somaliland. This move is a blatant attempt to increase Zionist and imperialist domination at the Red Sea and, in particular, of Bab al-Mandab, a key maritime route where 12-15% of global trade passes. Unsurprisingly, this has provoked the nearly unanimous outrage of the Muslim world as well as of the African Union.

 

Such opposition is absolutely justified since such an “independent” Somaliland would effectively be a puppet state dominated by Israel, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ethiopia. ^[8] Trump and the Zionists hope to utilise Somaliland as a destination for “resettlement” of a million Palestinians from Gaza in order to advance another Nakba. It is encouraging to see that in the last days spontaneous protests have already begun in Somaliland where youth demonstrate under slogans like “Free, Free Palestine” and "We don't want separatists". [9]

 

A further example of the utopian idea of a stable Middle East pacified by Israel and the U.S. is the latest development in Yemen. As is well known, Saudi Arabia and the UAE jointly invaded Yemen in 2015 in order to defeat the popular uprising and the advance of Ansar Allah (widely known as the Houthis). However, they failed and the latter continues to dominate the northern and western part of the country where the majority of the population leaves. [10] Since 2022, there has been a fragile ceasefire between the parties. Ansar Allah played a distinguished role during the war against the Zionist genocide in Gaza as it supported the Palestinian resistance by various military means.

 

However, since a few days this reactionary alliance between Saudi Arabia and the UAE has broken down and an open civil war between the two parties is underway where UAE-affiliated forces attack pro-Saudi opponents and Saudi Air Force bombs UAE ships. [11]

 

This development can have important repercussions for the UAE – a parasitic enclave of 9,4 million people of which more than 88% are “foreigners”, i.e. migrants who work as super-exploited labour force to enrich a small super-rich elite. It is the closest Arab ally of the Zionist settler state and provoked accumulated contempt by the masses in the region not only because of its pro-Israeli policy but also because it is the driving force behind the murderous RSF militia in Sudan – which just slaughtered tens of thousands of civilians in the city of El Fasher. Its wicked role in Palestine, Yemen, Somaliland and Sudan does not only provoke hatred amongst the masses but also hostility from key Muslim regional powers like Türkiye and Egypt (close allies of the Somalian government which is outraged about the separation of Somaliland) as well as Saudi Arabia.

 

 

 

Tasks of socialists

 

 

 

In short, the policy of permanent aggression and forever wars by Israel and the UAE destabilises the Middle East instead of imposing pro-imperialist pacification.

 

The task of Marxists is to continue supporting the heroic Palestinian resistance and to take the side with all victims of Zionist aggression (Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, etc.) without lending political support for their (petty-)bourgeois Islamist leadership. Defeating the Zionist monster is the key task of the liberation struggle in the Middle East!

 

While both the pro-Saudi as well as pro-UAE forces in Yemen are reactionary and can not be supported – the same is also the case for both camps in the Sudanese civil war –, it is certainly a welcome development to see a weakening of Israel’s most important ally.

 

In Somalia, socialists have no reason to lend any support to the government which fights the national liberation war led by the petty-bourgeois Islamists of Al-Shabaab. However, in any clash with armed forces of the pro-imperialist and pro-Zionist puppet Somaliland, the goal must be to defeat the latter.

Un elemento clave de la nueva estrategia de política exterior de la Administración Trump es la pacificación de Oriente Medio mediante una alianza entre Israel y los estados árabes prooccidentales bajo el patrocinio del imperialismo estadounidense. Esto permitiría a Estados Unidos detener las intervenciones militares en la región y retirar gran parte de sus fuerzas armadas, que se encuentran sobrecargadas. Esto forma parte de su nuevo concepto de política exterior, que reconoce el declive del antiguo hegemón y aboga por un acercamiento con el imperialismo ruso y chino, así como por centrarse en la dominación total del "hemisferio occidental". La política "pacifista" de Trump hacia Putin, orientada a una mayor colaboración con Rusia y al saqueo de Ucrania, la postura agresiva contra la Unión Europea y su agresión militar contra Venezuela son consecuencia de esta nueva estrategia. ^[1]

 

Como la CCRI ha explicado en otro lugar, este concepto es un paso realista... hacia una utopía reaccionaria. ^[2] Es realista porque finalmente reconoce que Estados Unidos ya no está en condiciones de imponer su voluntad al mundo. Washington carece de la base económica para dominar el mundo capitalista, e incluso sus ventajas militares y financieras ya no son suficientes para permitirle desempeñar el papel que desempeñó durante la mayor parte del tiempo después de 1945. Sin embargo, este concepto se basa en la utopía reaccionaria de que las grandes potencias podrían coexistir pacíficamente sobre la base de la división del mundo en varias esferas de influencia. Tal concepto es reaccionario porque aboga por un mundo donde varias potencias imperialistas dominan y explotan sus respectivas esferas de influencia y acuerdan no interferir en la esfera de sus rivales.

 

Sin embargo, si bien tal coexistencia pacífica de las grandes potencias pudo haber sido posible en ciertos períodos de la época preimperialista del siglo XIX (por ejemplo, entre 1815 y 1848 o en las décadas posteriores al Congreso de Berlín de 1878), esto ya no es posible en el siglo XXI. En un mundo caracterizado por el declive capitalista —estancamiento económico, catástrofe climática, la creciente contradicción entre las fuerzas productivas globalizadas y los estados nacionales, polarización política, guerras, contrarrevoluciones y revoluciones— la coexistencia pacífica entre las potencias imperialistas (y regionales) es imposible. La historia de la primera mitad del siglo XX lo ha demostrado con gran claridad.

 

El concepto de Trump de un mundo imperialista multipolar —que comparten básicamente los defensores estalinistas-populistas de un mundo donde los BRICS+ y las potencias occidentales coexisten pacíficamente— es, por lo tanto, una utopía reaccionaria. ^[3]

 

 

 

Las guerras interminables de Israel frente a la coexistencia pacífica

 

 

 

El concepto de Trump de una coexistencia pacífica entre Israel y las potencias regionales musulmanas en Oriente Medio es también una utopía reaccionaria. En un mundo de declive capitalista y con una antigua potencia hegemónica en retirada de Oriente Medio, la clase dominante de todas las potencias regionales actúa según el principio de "sálvese quien pueda". El Estado sionista de colonos —un imperialismo menor en estrecha alianza con Estados Unidos— ha esperado mejorar su posición iniciando guerras interminables que a) aniquilarían la resistencia palestina, b) humillarían y subyugarían a los países musulmanes de la región y c) obligarían a Estados Unidos a mantener su compromiso militar en Oriente Medio, apoyando a Israel siempre que fuera necesario.

 

Pero si bien Trump comparte el desprecio sionista por los pueblos musulmanes en general y por los palestinos en particular, no tiene interés en unirse a las guerras interminables de Israel por las razones antes mencionadas. Además, si bien Israel logró algunos éxitos militares desde el 7 de octubre, no logró destruir la heroica resistencia palestina en Gaza a pesar de dos años de genocidio ininterrumpido. Del mismo modo, Irán sigue en pie —a pesar de la agresión combinada sionista-estadounidense— y Turquía se ha erigido como un formidable rival para la posición de Israel en la región. ^[4] Y políticamente, Israel se ha convertido en un paria, odiado por las masas en los países musulmanes y a nivel mundial, gracias al gran movimiento de solidaridad con Palestina.

 

Al mismo tiempo, las guerras interminables de Netanyahu aceleran las contradicciones políticas dentro de Israel y socavan los fundamentos mismos del sionismo, ya que un número creciente de israelíes desea abandonar el Estado de colonos. 125.000 israelíes abandonaron el Estado sionista entre principios de 2022 y mediados de 2024, y según un estudio del Instituto de Democracia de Israel, publicado el mes pasado, el 27% de los israelíes está considerando emigrar. ^[5]

 

Los últimos acontecimientos demuestran que Oriente Medio está lejos de la coexistencia pacífica y, por el contrario, se dirige hacia nuevas guerras. Netanyahu está decidido a lanzar otro ataque contra Irán después de que Israel, con el apoyo de Estados Unidos, no lograra derrotar decisivamente al Estado persa en los 12 días de junio de 2025. Según varios informes, Netanyahu está presionando a Trump para obtener su aprobación para otro ataque contra Irán. “Cuando se reúnan en Mar-a-Lago el lunes por la tarde, se espera que el primer ministro Benjamin Netanyahu intente convencer al presidente Donald Trump para que apruebe un posible ataque israelí contra el programa de misiles balísticos de Irán…” ^[6]

 

Una guerra de este tipo es una empresa arriesgada —si bien Israel golpeó duramente a Irán en junio, también sufrió una serie de duros golpes— y no puede llevarse a cabo sin el pleno apoyo de Estados Unidos. Está lejos de ser seguro que los sionistas y su aliado estadounidense tengan más éxito que hace seis meses. Además, otra guerra provocará graves consecuencias económicas para la economía de Israel y podría provocar otra ola de emigración de colonos a Europa y Estados Unidos.

 

Al mismo tiempo, el llamado proceso de paz en Gaza sigue estancado. Hamás se opone correctamente al desarme, y los estados musulmanes se niegan a desplegar tropas para una Fuerza Internacional de Estabilización que tendría que desarmar por la fuerza a la resistencia palestina. ^[7]

 

 

 

El papel divisivo del aliado sionista EAU

 

 

 

Otro acontecimiento que demuestra el deseo de Israel de continuar con su política de guerras interminables es su reconocimiento diplomático —como primer Estado del mundo— del pequeño Estado secesionista de Somalilandia. Esta medida es un intento descarado de aumentar la dominación sionista e imperialista en el Mar Rojo y, en particular, en Bab al-Mandab, una ruta marítima clave por donde pasa entre el 12% y el 15% del comercio mundial. Como era de esperar, esto ha provocado la indignación casi unánime del mundo musulmán, así como de la Unión Africana.

 

Esta oposición está totalmente justificada, ya que una Somalilandia "independiente" sería, en la práctica, un Estado títere dominado por Israel, los Emiratos Árabes Unidos (EAU) y Etiopía. ^[8] Trump y los sionistas esperan utilizar Somalilandia como destino para el "reubicación" de un millón de palestinos de Gaza con el fin de impulsar otra Nakba. Es alentador ver que en los últimos días han comenzado protestas espontáneas en Somalilandia, donde jóvenes se manifiestan con lemas como "Palestina libre" y "No queremos separatistas". ^[9]

 

Otro ejemplo de la idea utópica de un Medio Oriente estable y pacificado por Israel y Estados Unidos es la reciente situación en Yemen. Como es bien sabido, Arabia Saudita y los Emiratos Árabes Unidos invadieron conjuntamente Yemen en 2015 para sofocar el levantamiento popular y el avance de Ansar Allah (conocido popularmente como los hutíes). Sin embargo, fracasaron y estos últimos continúan dominando el norte y el oeste del país, donde reside la mayor parte de la población. ^[10] Desde 2022, existe un frágil alto el fuego entre las partes. Ansar Allah desempeñó un papel destacado durante la guerra contra el genocidio sionista en Gaza, apoyando a la resistencia palestina con diversos medios militares.

 

Sin embargo, desde hace unos días, esta alianza reaccionaria entre Arabia Saudita y los Emiratos Árabes Unidos se ha roto y se libra una guerra civil abierta entre ambas partes, donde las fuerzas afiliadas a los Emiratos Árabes Unidos atacan a los oponentes pro-saudíes y la Fuerza Aérea saudí bombardea barcos emiratíes. ^[11]

 

Este acontecimiento puede tener importantes repercusiones para los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, un enclave parasitario de 9,4 millones de habitantes, de los cuales más del 88% son "extranjeros", es decir, migrantes que trabajan como mano de obra superexplotada para enriquecer a una pequeña élite multimillonaria. Es el aliado árabe más cercano del Estado colonizador sionista y ha provocado un profundo desprecio entre las masas de la región, no solo por su política proisraelí, sino también por ser la fuerza impulsora de la milicia asesina RSF en Sudán, que recientemente masacró a decenas de miles de civiles en la ciudad de El Fasher. Su papel perverso en Palestina, Yemen, Somalilandia y Sudán no solo provoca odio entre las masas, sino también hostilidad de importantes potencias regionales musulmanas como Turquía y Egipto (aliados cercanos del gobierno somalí, que está indignado por la secesión de Somalilandia), así como de Arabia Saudita.

 

 

 

Tareas de los socialistas

 

 

 

En resumen, la política de agresión permanente y guerras interminables de Israel y los Emiratos Árabes Unidos desestabiliza Oriente Medio en lugar de imponer una pacificación proimperialista.

 

La tarea de los marxistas es seguir apoyando la heroica resistencia palestina y solidarizarse con todas las víctimas de la agresión sionista (Irán, Líbano, Siria, Yemen, etc.) sin brindar apoyo político a sus líderes islamistas (pequeño)burgueses. ¡Derrotar al monstruo sionista es la tarea clave de la lucha de liberación en Oriente Medio!

 

Si bien tanto las fuerzas prosaudíes como las pro-EAU en Yemen son reaccionarias y no pueden ser apoyadas —lo mismo ocurre con ambos bandos en la guerra civil sudanesa—, sin duda es un acontecimiento positivo ver un debilitamiento del aliado más importante de Israel.

 

En Somalia, los socialistas no tienen ninguna razón para apoyar al gobierno que lucha contra la guerra de liberación nacional liderada por los islamistas pequeño-burgueses de Al-Shabaab. Sin embargo, en cualquier enfrentamiento con las fuerzas armadas del títere proimperialista y prosionista de Somalilandia, el objetivo debe ser derrotar a estas últimas.
